Overcome Fear of Commitment and Relationship Anxiety

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Micheal Jackson had sung a wonderful song, “Heal the World.” The lyrics also mentioned, “Make it a better place for you and you me and the entire human race.”

These words are simple but potent with meaning. It focuses on leaving in harmony not only with each other but nature as well. But as the famous saying goes, ‘Charity begins at home.’ So before living in harmony with the other creatures we need to live in harmony with ourselves.

Presently we suffer from numerous relationship issues such as incompatibility, lack of understanding, hidden motives and ego issues. This makes us suffer from a syndrome called relationship anxiety and fear of commitment.

Here we are sharing some tips to overcome these negative emotions and how to make relationships work out.

How to overcome Relationship Anxiety:

1. Accept that you are human and have your own limitations.
2. Do not fret and try to be over possessive. This will spell doom to your relationship.
3. Give space and recognize that everyone needs privacy. This is an indication of low self esteem and you need to work on your psychology and make your emotional constitution more strong.
4. Live and let live.
5. Never be obsessed by any person or relation. This will make you cling to him or her even more. This will only make things worse for you as you will have to suffer from relationship anxiety.
6. The best thing is to be around, but never to breath down the other person’s neck as you may end up making them feel suffocated. Relationship anxiety spells the death knell for most relationships. But the adverse impact is more long lasting and the person suffers from the onset of fear of commitment.

How to overcome Fear of Commitment:

1. Understand that commitment is a way and means to strengthen ties. Therefore if you suffer from a fear of commitment then it is better to share your fears with your relations and set down the ground rules.
2. If you are one who is scared of responsibilities and expectations, understand that when we are together it is only natural that people will expect something from you. Talking it out and clearly expressing yourself will make people understand you better.
3. Conversely be a good listener and understand that you need to emotionally support your peers and other relations when the need arises.
4. Do not see commitment as a curtailment of your freedom, rather see it as a stability factor and a support system which will stand by you and be your anchor during turbulent times.

But as waves only add to the beauty of the ocean, so also the ups and downs should only make your relationship stronger and not escalate into something unpleasant and repulsive.
